Welcome to Barrow Hill Junior School!
Trust, Fairness, Respect
Our three School Values underpin each and every action here at Barrow Hill. Indeed, our ethos starts the moment a Barrow Hill child walks through the school gate on their very first day. Getting to know the children as true individuals, their strengths, interests and feelings means that they trust in us too and have a voice to shape our school.
Small taught groups, a sparky curriculum, exceptional teaching, an emphasis on personal responsibility and mutual respect, effective pastoral care, outstanding facilities, an open door to families and a very big heart: these are the hallmarks of our strong school community. A parent recently described Barrow Hill aptly as ‘a village school in a city setting’. This feeling is underpinned by exceptional standards and a commitment to fairness: getting the best for every child. Our academic results are now higher than national averages in each subject area. I believe that this is because of our attention to detail and my colleagues do too: happy children learn more!
Our ‘Day In The Life’ film will show you our three School Values in action, this is how Barrow Hill works for all of us, you see.
